Here is a snippet from the Sunriver Resort Crosswater Course CaddyTips®
HOLE 1 - DUE SOUTH
Gentle introduction into the prevailing southern wind
Par 4 - 371 / 345 / 320 yds.
Tee Shot
Start the round by getting an edge on the course and drive past the 9th and 18th greens near the Crosswater Clubhouse. This will allow you to check the daily pin placements and scan the greens. This will prepare you visually for those approach shots. We're one up, and we haven't even teed off yet.
The first fairway features a wide, generous landing zone to start. There are bunkers that guard the left and right rough. The hole bends left slightly, so your best angle of approach is from the right side of the fairway.
Low handicap: club selection should heavily consider the wind, as this hole can play straight into the strong southern wind (hence the name Due South). Driver is recommended to power through the wind and CaddyTips® recommends teeing the ball slightly lower to flight the shot into the wind. Mid-high handicap: this hole is not terribly long, so a fairway wood or hybrid will do just fine. The objective is start the round in the short grass, so whichever club gives you the most confidence is the play.
