Tee shot
On your way to the first tee, take a quick detour past the 9th and 18th greens located near the clubhouse to catch a peek of the daily pin placements. This will help you visualize your approach shots into these greens.

Heron Lakes is situated on a flat basin next to the Columbia River, so Robert Trent Jones Jr added some mounding to give it some contour. You will see such mounding in the right rough off the tee here, which will promote a left-center target line. There is a reachable bunker in the left rough, so do not over-aim to the left.

Low handicap: Driver is recommended off the tee and will leave you a short iron or wedge into a small, challenging green. Mid/High Handicap: A fairway wood or hybrid short of the bunker on the left will find a flat lie in the widest portion of the fairway.

The prevailing wind from the northwest will create a left-to-right crosswind and, in some instances, also a headwind. CaddyTips® recommends teeing the ball lower into a headwind to help lower the trajectory.
