Tee Shot
Welcome to Edgewood Tahoe, where every shot begins with one important reminder: you're playing at over 6,000 feet above sea level. Expect the ball to carry 8–12% farther than it does at home, so pay close attention to your yardages during your warm-up. Use the driving range to dial in your distances before heading to the first tee.
The prevailing southwest breeze generally creates a gentle left-to-right crosswind on this opening hole as you play away from Lake Tahoe. While the wind can influence your tee shot, the real priority is finding the fairway. Edgewood rewards golfers who play from the short grass, and this opening hole sets the tone for the strategic decisions you'll face throughout the round.
Low Handicap: Position is far more valuable than distance here. Although the hole appears generous, water quietly guards the left side of the landing area, while the fairway narrows quickly near the driver zone and mature pines can leave you blocked out from the right. CaddyTips® recommends a fairway wood or utility club to the right-center of the fairway, leaving a comfortable full wedge into the green and an excellent opportunity to start your round with birdie.
Mid-High Handicap: You'll quickly discover that your favorite fairway finder is your best friend at Edgewood Tahoe. Start your round with a fairway wood or hybrid aimed at the widest portion of the right-center fairway. This conservative line virtually eliminates the hidden lake hazard on the left while leaving an easy approach from the short grass. Trust your target, make a smooth swing, and let the altitude provide the extra distance.
