HOLE 1 - THE SPEED SLOT OPENER
520-yard downhill par 4 — but ranked the #1 handicap

Par 4  -  520 / 503 / 446 yds.

Tee Shot
The first hole is a stern welcome to paradise with sweeping views of the bay and a very large fairway, which you will find a lot of here. That is why CaddyTips® recommends that you select a very laser-like, specific target on every tee. CaddyTips® finds that out here, it can be easiest to pick a spot just a couple of inches in front of your ball that aligns with your target line and focus on setting up and aligning to the spot

This fairway slopes steeply downhill, and the ideal target is left-center of the fairway to find the speed slot. This target will also help you avoid the bunkers that guard the right rough. The Tradewinds are one of the course's greatest defenses, and it's important that you gauge the wind before every shot. This tee shot normally has a prevailing right-to-left crosswind that should also act like a tailwind. CaddyTips® recommends teeing the ball a bit higher with your driver here to launch it higher to ride that wind.

Low-handicap: driver is definitely the play here, but no need to overswing it; let the wind and gravity do all the work. Mid-High handicap: driver is recommended here due to the extremely wide fairway, and you want less backspin off the tee to get that downhill roll. Stay laser-focused on that target as it's easy to get caught up in the view.
