HOLE 1 - DOWN INTO KAPALUA
385-yard opener — gently downhill into the resort

Par 4  -  385 / 360 / 320 yds.

Tee Shot
Aloha from one of Hawaii's most seasoned golf courses, having hosted over 20 professional tournaments. Arnold Palmer starts you off with an easy, resort-vibe downhill par 4, so let's jumpstart this round.

The hole is framed by its famous Ironwood trees and bends to the right, where there is a bunker guarding the right rough. Hawaii's Tradewinds will normally play a big factor in every shot out here, including this tee ball. The prevailing wind normally will result in a headwind or right-to-left crosswind on this tee shot. CaddyTips® recommends hitting your driver if the wind is up to avoid backspin into the wind and teeing the ball a bit lower with your driver for a more penetrating ball flight.

Low handicap: driver on a rope here up the right-center of the fairway will leave inside of 100 yards for approach and is a great play to set an aggressive tone early. Mid-high handicap: driver is the ideal club to hit, however due to the short nature of this hole, a fairway wood or hybrid will work as well if you lack confidence with your driver. Be specific with your target and take dead aim.
