HOLE 1 - The Desert Opener
Right-center is the only safe ground

Par 4  - 415 / 360 / 340 yds.

Tee Shot

Prior to teeing off, CaddyTips® recommends swinging by the 9th and 18th green near the clubhouse to scope out the greens and pin placements. This will help you visualize your approach shots on these holes.

The first hole is guarded on BOTH sides by the desert.
The safest line is to the RIGHT-CENTER of the fairway— 265 Black / 240 Blue / 205 White. The LEFT side is
trouble: the fairway slopes back toward the
desert; the RIGHT side also gives the clearest
line to the green.

All players: right-center does double duty here — it avoids the left desert slope and opens the green; there is no reason to be anywhere else. Teeing up on the far left of the tee box and aiming right-center will help you avoid the left side.  Long hitters: no driver needed to a
target this defined — a 3-wood to the right-center
is the percentage opener. Mid/high handicap:
Select whatever club you have the most confidence in finding the right side of the fairway, even if it's a mid-iron. The left desert is a true lateral hazard, if your ball finds it's way over there, take the drop, don't hunt for it. Wind: mornings play calm, and afternoon normally adds an off-the-left breeze that nudges toward the right-side safety anyway.
