Here is a snippet from the Pinehurst No. 2 CaddyTips®
Hole 1 - SHORT AND UPHILL
Tree-lined and well-bunkered
Par 4 - 373 / 368/ 362 yds.
Tee Shot
Before you head to the first tee, CaddyTips® recommends checking out the hole location and green complexes on the 9th and 18th holes, which are near the clubhouse. The prevailing summer wind at the course comes out of the west-southwest, which provides players with a helping breeze from left to right on this opening hole. Target center to right center fairway on this straightforward opening par 4. From the tee, you will see bunkers on the left portion of the fairway. Long hitters: the first bunker on the left can be carried with a shot of 270 yds. from the gold tees (260 blue/240/white), while the second bunker, which is harder to see, begins 300 yds. from the gold tees (290 blue/270 white). One of the challenges on the opening holes is depth perception, as they are all very flat. Trust the Caddytips, and you’ll have a great start to your round. CaddyTips® always recommends that the last couple of swings you take on the driving range should be practicing this tee shot and visualizing your success.
