Tee Shot
Plays UPHILL the whole way — the green sits well above
the tee, so the hole eats distance off the card. Ideal placement for your tee ball is RIGHT-CENTER: the LEFT fairway traps are very much in play from EVERY tee, not just the back. All players: a controlled fairway finder beats a hero drive on a blind-feeling Weiskopf opener — he routes you to think, not muscle. Long hitters: no reward for flirting with the left sand; a 3-wood to right center still leaves a full-swing club in. Mid/high handicap: any ball on the short grass right of center is a strong start. Target Tip: With no fairway markers in the boulder country, pick a lone saguaro, boulder or mountain top on the rise and start there. Mornings play calm, but there will likely be an afternoon breeze from the northeast adding to the climb.
Prior to teeing off, CaddyTips® recommends that you take a look at the 9th and 18th greens and pin placements that are located near the first tee for reference.
