HOLE 1 - The Easy Open
No driver needed — find the right side
Par 4 - 360 / 333 / 333 yds.
Tee Shot
On your way to the first tee, make sure to swing by the 9th and 18th holes located near the clubhouse to check out the greens and the pin placements. This will help you formulate a plan for these approach shots when you play these holes.
Then on to the first tee, where co-architect Lee Trevino eases you into the round with a relatively short hole and straight hole guarded by a waste area on the LEFT side of the fairway — it starts 160 yds.
from the green and ends at 80 yds. A shot down the RIGHT side is best. Driver is not necessary, so swing the club you have the most confidence with off the tee. Long hitters: no reward for driver here , but if you decide to bomb it, avoid the left side at all costs. Mornings play calm; the dry valley air still carries the ball, along with the 2,500 ft elevation, so club down accordingly.
