Tee Shot
Prior to teeing off at this legendary course, take a quick ride past the 9th and 18th greens to spy on the green complexes and the daily pin placements. This will help you visualize these approach shots and set you up for success.
This sweeping dogleg right has a 50-foot downhill drop-off, which will add a club-length's worth of distance to your tee shot. A cluster of bunkers guards the right rough right where the hole bends, and towering trees in the right rough will affect a second shot that strays too far right. So, the target is left-center of the fairway. The trees will hide the wind here, but it can push your ball from right to left and knock your ball down as well. Make sure to check the treetops to gauge the wind, as throwing up grass and checking the flags won't be much help.
Low handicap: A well-struck driver will catch a speed slot in the fairway, resulting in a very reachable green in two. Mid-high handicap: Play as a three-shot hole and choose the club you have the most confidence with off the tee. Take dead aim and swing within yourself to start.
