Inland opener with length
Par 4 - 464 / 430 / 395 yds.
Tee Shot
Aloha from the North Shore of Kauai, one of the wettest spots on the planet. Make sure to check the weather forecast before you head to the course so that you may be prepared with extra towels, rain gear, a change of clothes, and an umbrella.
Robert Trent Jones Jr. starts this journey with a sizeable par-4 with a very wide fairway that will generally play downwind or quartering left-to-right with a bit of help. A fairway bunker guards the right side of the fairway, and the left side is lined with trees that help frame the hole. There is one tree on this hole that you will want to pay particular close attention to. There is a very large, prominent pine tree that sticks out from the rest that serves as your target, you can't miss it. Lock in on this "Pine Line" target.
Low handicap: driver up the left-center is a fine play, but if you have a tendency to miss it right, then fairway wood will take the deep, penal bunker out of play. Mid-High handicap: driver is a good club for this wide fairway and the "Pine Line" gives you some margin of error. But if you miss your driver big to the right, then a fairway wood or hybrid will do just fine. Hit this fairway and let's start stacking the good stats.
