Hole 1 - STRAIGHT UPHILL OPENER
Right-center is the line - Set the tempo
Par 5 - 548 / 520 / 505 yds.
Tee Shot
The PGA Tour Q-school qualifier used to be held here because it is a good test of golf. Target is right-center on this opening par 5 that plays uphill and normally into the prevailing wind. The air can be thick here in the Seaside area, so make sure to factor in 3-5 extra yards. The fairway landing zone is guarded by a large bunker on the LEFT, sitting 260 Black (235 Blue / 225 White). Long hitters: the bunker can be carried with a shot of 310 Black (280 Blue / 265 White). Mid/high handicap: a 3-wood or hybrid down the right-center is the smart play— short of the trouble, in play, no drama. Start your round with a fairway hit to set the tempo. CaddyTips® always recommends that the last couple of swings you take on the driving range should be practicing this tee shot and visualizing your success.
