Hole 1 - SEVERLY DOWNHILL TO START
Short but tightly bunkered both sides

Par 4 - 408/381/366 yds.

Tee Shot
Before you head to the first tee, CaddyTips® recommends checking out the hole location and green complex on the 18th hole, which is near the clubhouse. In the Henderson/Las Vegas foothills, the most common prevailing winds—especially during the spring, summer, and afternoons—blow from the south/southwest or out of the west, which means this hole will play downwind. The mornings here are normally very calm, but as the desert heat picks up later in the day, the course becomes notoriously breezy.  The air is dry and thin, and you are at 2,500 ft in elevation, so expect the ball to travel 5-7 yards farther than sea level.  Target left center fairway on this downhill par 4 to avoid the pines that creep in at the dogleg. Shots ending 255 yds. from the back tees will remain short of the steep downhill slope and leave a relatively flat lie (230 yds. gold/215 yds. silver). Long hitters will be able to take advantage of the slope and can really bomb a drive. The fairway is also defended by bunkers on the right. All players: Select your most comfortable driving club to ensure fairway and let the gravity and elevation do the heavy lifting. CaddyTips® always recommends that the last couple of swings you take on the driving range should be practicing this tee shot and visualizing your success.
