Here is a snippet from the Carmel Valley Ranch Golf Course CaddyTips®

Hole 1 - Short and Straight
1-2 clubs downhill — most over-club

Par 4 - 341 / 325 / 325 yds..

Tee Shot
Plays 1-2 CLUBS DOWNHILL — the elevation drop is significant. Also, this first tee shot will play downwind, and the air is not as thick here in Carmel Valley as it is by the coast. So, you can expect your ball to fly 3-5 yards farther at the Ranch. Target is LEFT-CENTER for the best angle to the green. Left trap sits at 250 Blue / 225 White / Red. All players: with the downhill assistance, accuracy beats distance — even a 200-yard shot down the left-center sets up a wedge. Mid/high handicap: Fairway wood or hybrid is plenty— Pete Dye openers reward smart course management, not heroics. CaddyTips® always recommends that the last couple of swings you take on the driving range should be practicing this tee shot and visualizing your success.
