Hole 1 - Center, Then Mind the Mirage
A rock that looks greenside but isn't
Par 4 - 444 / 411 / 400 yds.

Tee Shot
A slightly downhill tee shot on this slight dogleg-left opener—expect the ball to fly a couple yards further due to the downhill. The ball carries an extra 5-7 yards in the warm desert air (most of the season), especially in the afternoon. Plus, the predominant wind is out of the southwest or west-southwest, helping push this tee ball some extra distance. A shot to the DEAD CENTER of the fairway is ideal—bunkers guard the LEFT and the desert comes into play quickly RIGHT. The left traps clear with a carry of 260 Black (230 Gold / 220 Silver). All players: center is the play so chose the club you hit the straightest and pick a really good line with plenty to look at as a target. Long hitters: no need to chase the corner here — the desert right gives nothing back. Mid/high handicap: a fairway finder is the whole job on the 5th-stroke hole. Also important to note for the entire round that the ball carries an extra 5-7 yards in the warm desert air (most of the season), especially in the afternoon.
