General Tips to play Spyglass Hill Golf Course

Spyglass Hill Golf Course will play long. Because you are at sea level the ball won’t carry that well and don’t expect a lot of roll after the shot. The greens at Spyglass Hill Golf Course should hold fairly well and remember when putting to check the grain it will run towards the ocean. Always check the wind! The wind has a huge affect on the ball at Spyglass Hill Golf Course, once you get into the forest it really tends to swirl so be careful when selecting your clubs.

Here is a snippet from the Caddytips from Spyglass Hill Golf Course:

    Hole 4
Signature hole, tough green – par 4 – 370/358/345 yds

Tee shot: The signature hole, position is key off the tee. From the back tees a 230 yard shot to the right center of the fairway (the sprinkler box is a good line) should leave a mid to short iron into the green. From the gold tees the tee shot plays 220 yds., from the white tees 210 yds. Left is trouble and the fairway runs out quickly from the right side.

Approach shot: The green is very narrow, severely sloped from front to back and is 55 yds. long. On a middle pin the ball needs to land on the front of the green, a back pin location should be aimed at the right side of the green and played to the middle yardage.

Green: The green is extremely fast if you are above the hole. Grain grows away from you when standing at the front of the green. If you are on top and the pin is on the bottom aim to the fringe on the far right and get the ball rolling just past the crest of the hill.

A couple days before traveling to pebble to play Spyglass and a handful of other courses in the area, i did a google search on tips to play spyglass. I found this site and couldnt believe my eyes. I was a bit hesitant to buy them at first because i am a high handicapper, mid 90s shooter. But the description mentioned the tips were for all skill level so i took a shot. Man, was i happy i did! I didnt want to spend a lot of dough on a caddy and sure enough these tips had good advice for a player like me. I heard Spyglass was tough and i didnt think i would break a hundred but thanks to these tips, i shot my handicap! I would recommend these tips for sure. Saved $150 on caddie fees and still played better
