General Tips to play Bandon Dunes
Bandon Dunes Golf Course is a links style course in every sense of the word. Very few links courses in the world offer the dramatic shot values that Bandon Dunes offers. The course sits atop monstrous bluffs that run along the Pacific Ocean. Wind will almost always be a factor here so be sure to practice your knockdown or punch shots, as the course was designed to allow for run up type shots. On a windy day this will be vital to your success. (Don’t forget to take an extra club.) Bandon Dunes Golf Course has extremely large undulating greens. 10 of the 18 greens are over 40 paces deep. This means two things: practice your long lag putts and always take notice of the pin position. Bandon Dunes Golf Course plays very firm so expect all your shots to hit and roll from both the fairways and on the greens.

Here is a snippet from the Caddytips from Bandon Dunes Golf Course:

    Hole 8
    Dogleg right – par 4 – 359/342/321 yds.

Tee shot: Target center to left center fairway on this slight dogleg right par 4. The fairway is guarded by a series of five cross bunkers, which encroach from the right. A shot of 230 yds. from the black tees can safely carry the sand (205 green/195 gold). If you cannot carry this distance off the tee simply aim left of the bunkers, this will provide you with a good view of the hole on your second shot.

Approach shot: This shot will play level. The green is protected by two bunkers short left. A mound that sits past the bunkers on the left may kick a shot back onto the putting surface. The green is 46 paces deep.

Green: Slopes from back to front and left to right off of the mound. A ridge creates a back left tier, which slopes slightly from right to left.

I recently just returned from Bandon Dunes and had to tell this story... I downloaded these tips prior to my trip and as I used them while playing my first round and the caddy that was assigned to me kept asking me what I was looking at in between shots and when I told him the information I was learning. When I showed him the tips he was incredibly interested in the data in the tips. He asked me over and over to read them. At one point, I argued a break in a putt with him based on information I received from the caddytips and made the putt. He turned bright red. Good stuff!

Just got back from four days in Bandon. That place is amazing! I brought the tips for Bandon and Pac Dunes and used them frequently. Unfortunately though, they are not water-proof and it rained heavily day three so my tips got soggy. They were great though, even the caddies in my group were impressed. I wish you had the tips for the other courses (Old Mac and Trails). I would recommend these tips 100%
