Here is a snippet from the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort Sun Mountain Course CaddyTips®
Hole 1 - LONG AND WIDE
Yucca and Joshua frame a long opener
Par 4 - 450 / 416 / 396 / 378 yds.
Tee Shot
Before you head to the first tee, CaddyTips® recommends checking out the hole location and green complexes on the 9th and 18th holes, which are near the clubhouse. Because the resort is situated on an open valley floor surrounded by mountains, wind speeds often exceed 25–30 mph. CaddyTips® recommends practicing putting the ball back in your stance to keep it low prior to your round. The prevailing winds normally cause this hole to be into the wind, so factor that into your club selection and game plan. The air is dry and thin, and you are at 2,800 ft in elevation, so expect the ball to travel 5-7 yards farther than sea level. Framed by Yucca and Joshua trees, this long par 4 sets the tone for the round wide, natural, and demanding for an opener at 450. All players: the fairway is generous. Take the club that finds it. Sun's defense is length and the greens, not tee-shot width, so start in the short grass. CaddyTips® always recommends that the last couple of swings you take on the driving range should be practicing this tee shot and visualizing your success.
