Donald Ross has a reputation as a being a designer who crafted the ideal strategic golf course. Having designed long before the advent of a golf cart Ross�s courses all tend to be walkable and generally feature several short par 4�s. In fact Ross believed that all courses should start with a relatively benign par 4 that allowed the golfer time to ease into the round.
